Designer hand craft quality baby knitwear

Demelza Designer Knitwear is a small business based in Cornwall on the North Cornish coast. All knitwear is designed and hand created by the founder, Gail with love and care.

At the age of 12 years old my passion for fashion began by starting to make my own clothes and knitting my school cardigans. At the age of 17 years old I started to study fashion design at Oxford prior to moving on to attend the prestigious former 'Medway College of Design' in Kent.

In 1991 I opened my own baby and toddlers clothing boutique in Cornwall designing, making and selling my own designer children's clothing and knitwear ranges direct to the general public for a 14 year period. My work was purchased by people from around the world as gifts for either their own children, grandchildren, their immediate family or for their friends children. During this time I had been featured in a children's BBC programme and interviewed on BBC Radio Cornwall along with endless local articles written about my work from my little studio boutique based in Trevaunance Cove, St. Agnes.

In 2003 I decided to have a complete career change into health care attending full time studies at Portsmouth University. Due to becoming physically disabled I could no longer continue in this career working on the front line in a main busy NHS hospital's operating theatre department. After a few years recovering from major spinal and brain surgeries I returned back to my passion designing and creating beautiful things within my physical limitations. I am a stickler for perfection and I enjoy doing what I love; being creative for those seeking total individuality and quality for a little one in their life.
